After his return from a stint in the Stan, the company denied his leave request because of the upcoming training schedule. The whole thing was his new boot-tenant’s idea of unit cohesion. Instead of crying about it, being the motivated NCO that he was, he’d gritted his teeth and pressed on.
In the blink of an eye, a wave of light exploded across the sky, engulfing the horizon and swallowing the landscape. Like a giant EMP, it killed all electronics, leaving the world in total darkness.
